Built by a dance school, for dance schools

Run your school on software that doesn't take a cut of what parents pay you.

One system with three ways in: an office side for you, an app your teachers take registers on, and a portal where parents pay. All on your own web address. Card payments go straight into your own Stripe account — we never see a penny of them.

Your first full term is free, including moving your data across.

The whole price list

£3

per student, per term. Three terms a year.

  • Your first 15 students are free — always, however big you get
  • No monthly fee, and nothing to pay through August
  • No commission on parent payments. Ever.
  • Only students actually booked into a class that term count
3 years running a real school Every register, invoice and payment since day one Teacher and parent apps included, not extra UK built, UK support

The bit nobody tells you

Most school software stores your information. It doesn't tell you anything.

You can log in and see who is in Tuesday's class. What you usually cannot see is whether Tuesday's class is worth running. These are the questions we kept asking, and could not answer, until we built something that could.

What it does

Everything a small school actually needs, and nothing it doesn't.

This was built for one real school, in use every week, and then made available to others. Nothing in it is there because it looked good in a demo.

Everything about a child in one place

Contact details, medical notes, allergies and photo consent — visible to the people who need them, at the moment they need them.

Termly invoices, raised for you

Fees come from who is booked into what. One invoice per student, sent by email, with discounts applied automatically.

Card payments, at cost

Parents pay by card through your own Stripe account at Stripe's own rate. Nothing is added on top and nothing comes to us.

Trials that don't get lost

Book a trial, see who came, and record what happened next. So at the end of term you know how many stayed.

Numbers that mean something

How full each class is, what each one earns, who has not paid, and how many trials converted. Plain figures, no spreadsheets.

Printable registers, when you want paper

Some halls have no signal and some teachers prefer a clipboard. Print a clean register for any class, any week.

Three ways in, one system

Your teachers and your parents get their own app. Included.

This is the part most systems charge extra for, or simply do not have. Everyone sees only what they should, everything updates in the same place, and nobody has to send you a text at nine at night to tell you who was missing.

For you

The office

Where the school is run.

  • Timetable, students, families and staff
  • Raise and send a whole term's invoices
  • See who has paid and who has not
For your teachers

The teacher app

Installs on a phone like any other app.

  • Take the register at the side of the hall
  • Their own classes and nobody else's
  • Allergies and medical notes to hand
For your parents

The parent portal

On your web address, in your colours.

  • See the invoice and pay it by card
  • Check what their child is booked into
  • Update their own details, so you don't

No extra licences, no per-teacher charge and no per-parent charge. The £3 per student covers all three.

Where it came from

It runs a real dance school. That is the whole reason it works.

Performance Hub in Medway has been open three years. Every register, every invoice, every payment and every trial has gone through this system — not a demo of it, the actual system, every week, with real parents chasing real invoices.

Nothing here was designed in the abstract. Each part exists because running a school made it necessary, and it had to work on the first Tuesday of term or the class did not get taken.

What that means for you

  • We move your data across for you. Spreadsheets, exports from another platform, or a paper register book — we have done all three.
  • Your first term is free. If it does not suit your school you have lost nothing.
  • You are talking to the person who built it. Not a support queue.

Unprompted, from a parent

This arrived at East Sussex Dance Studios, the second school running on the system, after a parent paid her invoice on her phone. Nobody asked her for it, and it is the part that decides whether you get paid on time: if paying takes two taps, it happens the same evening rather than in week six.

That payment went straight into the school's own Stripe account. We never saw it and we took nothing from it.

Pricing

£3 per student, per term. Your first 15 are free.

That is the entire price list. Move the sliders to see what your school would pay — the second one is only there so you can check the answer against your own fee income.

A student counts once per term, however many classes they take. Trials are free.
Only used to work out the percentage on the right. We never see your fees.
You would pay, per year£585
Per term£195
Students charged for65
Share of your fee income1.0%

That is what the whole system costs you for a year. There is nothing else to pay us.

Pay by the term

Billed on the students booked into your classes that term. A quieter term costs less, and you pay nothing across the summer break.

Or pay for the year

One payment, priced on today's numbers. Everything you grow over the next twelve months is free. Grow from 80 students to 100 and you keep the difference.

Or own it outright

A one-off payment and the whole system runs on your own accounts, under your control. We cannot switch it off and we cannot put the price up. How that works →

The honest comparison

The licence fee is not where the money goes.

Most platforms look inexpensive until parents start paying by card. Then a percentage of every payment goes to the software company on top of the card fee — and once you put it against a year of fee income, that percentage is the whole story.

A school of 120 students, £90,000 of fees a year Software Card fees Total a year
A platform charging around £35 a month plus 3.1% + 20p £420 £2,862 £3,282
A platform with no monthly fee, taking 2.7% + 20p £0 £2,502 £2,502
mydance.school, with your own Stripe at 1.5% + 20p £945 £1,422 £2,367

£1,230

kept in your first year

Because your first term is free, year one costs £630 in software rather than £945.

£915

kept every year after that

Against a platform charging a monthly fee plus 3.1% — and without putting your own prices up by a penny.

The table shows a normal year, not the discounted first one. 120 students paying about £250 a term each, which is roughly what the schools already running on this actually average. Card fees are Stripe's published UK rates and go straight to Stripe, never to us. Competitor figures use publicly advertised rates.

Being straight with you: against a platform that charges a percentage and no monthly fee at all, the difference is small — a hundred pounds or so, either way, depending on what your students pay. We are not going to pretend otherwise. Where this becomes real money is against the platforms charging you both a monthly fee and a slice of every payment, which is most of them. Check your own terms, and if we do not come out ahead for your school, we will tell you so.

Questions we actually get asked

Before you ask

What counts as a student?

Anyone booked into one of your classes that term. If a child takes three classes, that is still one student. If someone left last year and is still sitting on your list, they are not counted, because they are not booked into anything. Trials are free until they enrol.

Is there really no cut of what parents pay me?

None. Card payments go through a Stripe account in your school's name, and the money lands in your bank. Stripe charge their own published rate, currently 1.5% + 20p on UK cards. We never touch it and we do not add anything to it.

What does it cost to get set up?

Nothing. There is no setup fee, no joining fee and no charge for moving your information across — and your first full term is free on top of that.

We do the moving ourselves. You send us whatever you have, we build your timetable, load your families and students, set your fees and check it against your own records before you rely on it. You are not handed an empty system and a help page.

What happens in the summer, when nobody is dancing?

Nothing to pay. You are billed per term on the students booked into your classes, so a term you did not run is a term you are not charged for. That is the main reason this is not a monthly subscription.

I keep my register on paper. Is that a problem?

No. We have moved a school across from a paper register book, typing in every child, class and fee ourselves before they started. Spreadsheets and exports from another platform are easier still. That work is included in your free first term.

What does "own it outright" actually mean?

Instead of paying per term, you pay once and the system is set up on accounts in your school's name. You own it. There is no licence to renew, nobody can switch it off, and the price cannot be raised, because there is nobody left to raise it.

Being straight with you: it is bought for independence, not to save money. You would take on the running costs of the services it sits on, which are more than the yearly fee you would have paid. It suits schools who want to know they can never be held over a barrel. Ask us and we will talk you through the real figures for your school.

Can I get my information back out?

Yes, at any time, in a normal spreadsheet format. It is your school's information and holding it hostage would be a poor way to run a business.

Who am I actually dealing with?

A small UK business. The person who answers your email is the person who built the system and who runs it for his own family's dance school every week. That means you get straight answers, and it also means we are not open at three in the morning.

Talk to us

Half an hour, no slides.

Pick a time that suits you and we will ring you on it. Tell us roughly how many students you have and how you take payments now, and we will tell you what you would pay, what moving across involves, and whether it is worth your while. If it isn't, we will say so.

No demo to sit through and nothing to install first. You are speaking to the person who built it.

Pick a time for your call

Thirty minutes, by phone. You choose the slot and we ring you.

Or send a note instead and we will reply by email, usually the same evening.
